Effective date: September 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Bhagavad Gita mobile app, developed and published by Ishwar Jha, handles information. The app is designed to work without an account and without collecting personal information.
Data collection and sharing
Bhagavad Gita does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal or sensitive user data. The app does not use advertising, analytics, tracking, authentication, or cloud-storage services.
Information stored on the device
The app stores the following information locally on the user's device:
- selected languages and display preferences;
- bookmarks and reading progress; and
- a locally generated installation identifier used only to organize app data on that device.
This information is not sent to the developer or to an external server. Users can remove it by deleting bookmarks, clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app.
User-initiated sharing
The app allows users to generate and share images containing Bhagavad Gita verses. Sharing occurs only when the user chooses the share action. The generated image is passed to Android's system sharing interface and may be temporarily stored in the app's local cache.
After a user shares content with another application or service, that recipient's privacy policy governs how it handles the shared content.
Permissions and network access
The Android application package declares internet access, network-state access, vibration, and wake-lock permissions used by the application and its framework. The app does not use internet or network-state access to collect or transmit personal information. Bhagavad Gita verses and translations are bundled with the app for offline use.
Privacy-policy website
This privacy-policy website is hosted by GitHub Pages. When a user voluntarily visits this website, GitHub may process standard web-request information under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
Data retention and deletion
Because no personal data is collected by the developer, the developer has no personal user data to retain or delete. Locally stored preferences, bookmarks, reading progress, identifiers, and cached sharing images remain on the device until removed by the user, Android, or app uninstallation.
Children's privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app's features or information-handling practices change. The revised policy will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
